My name is Matt Stiadle, I'm the moderator of this board and I am bipolar. I have experienced the highest highs, the lowest lows, and sometimes both at the same time. Usually I'm on a never ending cycle of normal and depressed and highly elated, the medications I'm on make the moods a little less severe, but they don't make them go away completely. I'm on an antidepressant, Prozac, two mood stabilizers, Keppra and Zyprexa, and a benzodiazepine, Ativan. The meds aren't magical potions that make me better, but they keep me under control. Other than dealing with moods internally and taking meds everyday, I'm a normal person. I'm not crazy because I have a mental illness. I went to high school and college, I graduated both, and I go to work like every other person does everyday not matter how low I feel. I am a normal person. Conversely, a lot of people who you encounter in your everyday life may be suffering from a mental illness, they are not crazy either. Don't ever be embarrassed to admit that you have a mental disorder. If anything, living through it makes us stronger than the average human being.
